How to Donate Ore

With Level 3 Wonder
Why Donate?
So your galaxy is in a pretty nice spot by now if you've got a wonder. Now ore is used not to build a new wonder, but to repair an existing one, if your galaxy currently owns one.

How?
At the galaxy screen, hit enter under the pillar.

Click your pillar, and hit repair.

Without Level 3 Wonder
Why Donate?
All right. So, you can donate ore to the galaxy.

What does this do, you say? Ore goes towards building a wonder for the galaxy. A wonder boosts resource production on your planets.
Update: 1/24/12
Wonders now called base buildings.

Update: 1/17/12
A level three wonder also allows your galaxy to participate in the pillar wars. The maximum level is 3. After that, ore donations go to repairing pillars.

How?
Open up the galaxy screen.

Hit Open.

Move the slider to however much you want to donate (or type in the amount). Then hit Donate.

Update: 1/19/12
Check Ore Donation Totals
At the galaxy screen, hit the galaxy info button

Then the Donation Tally button:
